What is MicroSoft Office? 

Microsoft Office is a suite of desktop productivity applications that is designed specifically by Microsoft for business use. It is a proprietary product of Microsoft Corporation and was first released in 1990. For decades, MS Office has been a dominant model in delivering modern office-related document-handling software environments.

What does MicroSoft Office do best? 

It offers multiple applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, OneNote and Outlook. Word is used to create documents, flyers, and publications. PowerPoint allows you to organize and manipulate data including formulas, graphing tools, and more. Excel also allows you to organize, manipulate and store data. OneDrive gives you access to store data online. OneNote allows you to organize data you collect including handwritten notes, drawings, screen captures, audio clips, and more. Outlook will manage your emails, calendars, to-do list and contacts. Microsoft has designed the applications in the suites to work together seamlessly. If you take a look at the list above you can imagine how many combinations of apps can be used together. For instance, you can write a document in Word and save it to the cloud using OneDrive. You can write an email in Outlook and attach a presentation you’ve created with PowerPoint. You can import contacts from Outlook to Excel to create a spreadsheet of the people you know.

Duality of Technology  

Technology has evolved and is continuing to develop in all capacities. The different levels of applications that have been created under MicroSoft Office has changed how organizations interact with technology. Streams of technology are constantly being updated to meet the needs of a growing technological culture. The growth of technology paired with organizational needs have embraced the known concept of duality. The duality of technology can refer to old technology and relate it to newer and updated  standards of technology. The change in both requires human interactions to provide the technical changes organizations are looking for.

Nothing is perfect 

When it comes to technology nothing is perfect. Even with all the technological advancements at the end of the day it is still created and developed by humans. A few things that limit MicroSoft Office is the lack of additional storage space. Users will typically need to rely on cloud storage for the extra storage space they may need. There are also limits to the work users can do on touchscreens and tablets. In addition to these limitations there are frequent pop-up warnings that are displayed.
